Whew! What a week. As some of you know Gwenie has been mysteriously sick and in lots of pain this week and after taking her to the doctor two days in a row, for 5 plus hours each, they still didn't know what was wrong with her. I was really frustrated with the on call doctor that saw her for not figuring out what was wrong with Gwenie. I think she thought I was a crazy Mom who thought her daughter was in pain when she was not! I really really do not like doctors. I love our Pediatrician but she was totally booked (probably since she is so good) and we had to see the on call doctor. Needless to say I am going to report to my doctor that the on call doctor SUCKS!
On Saturday I called my mom telling her all that is wrong with Gwenie. I thought it might have been strep throat for a minute because Gwenie has all this white stuff in her mouth, but the doctor tested her for strep and it was not. My mom said Strep would only be on her tonsils and not in her whole mouth. Huh, why didn't the doctor tell me that?!?!?! My mom said it sounded like she had Thursh, which is a yeast infection in the mouth. IT then causes you to have a yeast infection in your woman area and that would explain why Gwenie had been grabbing herself and crying like she was in pain. I ask you, why didn't the doctor notice this when she looked in Gwenie's mouth and took a culture for her throat?? Or when I said that Gwenie was grabbing herself and crying in pain??? I even said to the doctor that it had to be a bladder infection or a yeast infection, but of course I am not a doctor and what do I know?? ( I have had both and knew the syptoms) Ya, dumb doctor.
Luckily I called my Mom and she diagnosed her. So on Valentines Day, Saturday,Brett and I sat in the walk-n clinic with Gwenie for another 4 hours! Three days in a row of doctors. Atleast the doctor agreed with my Mom and gave us medicine and Gwenie is finally feeling better, even though she is still in alot of pain and is waking up in the night crying. The doctor said it would take a week of medicine before she felt better, but she is on the mend. So thanks Mom, you really should have been a doctor. You always know what is wrong and what to do in situation. You are my hero!!!
Brett had today off and decided he was actually going to take it off. He had been planning on still going to work since it is a short month, but surprised us this morning when he was still here. YAY. We went to lunch at Lucille's and then let Gwenie play in the puddles because she has been DYING to.
She was dancing to her hearts content.
Then decided to try to drink the water. I swear this girl wants to drink any water that she sees, but I don't let her luckily.
She had tons of fun and the poor girl deserved it!
This is my favorite one. I love her little hands and feet.
Now we just have to wait the week it will take for her to be completely better!

I'm glad you found out what was wrong...that is so yucky! The dancing is darling. When we were moving out of our house, in SD, we were spraying out the garage and Blake kept wanting to suck the water off the floor...ew! I don't know what it is with kids and water...too funny!
Sorry, I could have told you it was thrush when you called me but I didn't know she had the white stuff in her mouth. Jillian had that at about 4 months so we have done that too! Are you using the really thick yellow banana smelling medicine?
I can't believe that doctors didn't know what it was sooner. That is really bad! We sure hope she is feeling better soon!!!! Love the puddle jumping. Jill has been dying to get into the puddles too but since they both keep getting colds on & off I have been keeping them out!
These photos are great shots! It makes me wish for the stress free days of being a kid. I hope she feels better soon.
Mylie had Thrush too a few weeks after she was born. She was a very upset baby but thankfully we were able to see her pediatrician and she knew right away. I can't imagine how frustrated you must have been. It's hard to watch your children be in pain or when they are sick.
Love the puddle pictures!!!
Such cute pictures! Looks like lots of fun even though she was sick! Love your new blog design, it's very cute!!! =)
Poor Gwenie! Mom's always know best!
GREAT pictures. glad Gwenie will be well soon!
I think I'd mention something to someone, too. Even I know what thrush is (Erin had it, too). I can't understand why it wasn't diagnosed in Gwenie sooner. But the pictures of her dancing in the puddles are priceless! She'll feel better in no time now. I'm afraid it will take a bit longer for mom to feel better. Or at least to trust doctors again.
That is the pits about Gwenie. I'm glad you were finally able to get someone to get her some medicine so she could feel better. Those pics of her in the puddles are adorable- super cute!!
Oh my gosh...you can get that in your mouth? How the heck do you get that? Scary!! Glad she is starting to feel better! Gesh!!
And i love your new picture at the top! You are an amazing photographer!!
Great pictures, good parents to let her dance in the puddles, a doctor told me once to just let the kids have fun in the puddles and rain and then take them in a give them a nice hot bath and redress them...they'll love you for it. So even when it rained in Calif, we'd always let the kids walk home and get soakin wet and they could jump, jump in any puddles they wanted to.. too fun!! Love ya!!
I love these pictures! They capture the fun of being a little girl so well! Great post!
Miss you... see you soon,
Charise
