I had just fallen asleep at midnight after laying in bed for 2 hours and not 40 minutes later I was woke up thinking the house was falling down. Have you ever watched a movie where they demolition the building???? All those crazy sounds it made as it fell to the ground??? That is what we woke up to.
Both Brett & I shot up in bed and I grabbed Brett's head ( I didn't realize til it was all over , it must have been the closest body part to grab). Our blood was pumping and I have never had such an adrenaline rush! Brett was the brave one and looked out the window and this is what he saw:

A TREE HAD FALLEN ON THE HOUSE!!!! SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?

It took forever to fall back asleep. Adrenaline takes forever to leave your body and your heart to stop beating so hard plus I was scared out of my mind! Finally we fell back asleep and when the girls woke up we opened our blinds in our bedroom so they could see the damage ( and of course I grabbed my camera) Gwen had grabbed a baseball bat for safety, she is soooo like me.

Then we got shoes on and went outside to ascertain the damage, while Brett called the HOA to tell them. Here is the offending tree that leans over our house where the branch, I mean the branch the size of a tree, came from.

It ruined the stairs which is the way we are able to get to our car. We could not even walk up the stairs the tree is so big, plus the rail is totally ruined.

Some of you might have been to our house before and know that these stairs are on the side of the house and are REALLY CLOSE to our house.

Our backyard. Teeniest backyard ever huh???

The tree leaning against the side of our house.

Gwen loved the tree and thought it was really cool. The tree branches made a little circle for her to climb in.

Seriously one of the worst nights! It was so loud and lasted forever. The tree branch broke then landed on our roof, rolled off the roof onto the stairs, broke the railing and then fell against our house. This all happened with our window open and it rolling right where our window is. Plus what are the odds that it would be OUR house out of so many that the offending tree would land on?!?!? We have the worst luck ever. We are worried to that when it landed on the roof it caused damage to the roof so Brett is writing a letter to the HOA for them to check it and to make sure the cut down those old trees that are over our house and fix the railing. This is going to be a process, but it made for some fun pictures huh??
So lucky that this didn't happen during the day while the girls were our back or on the side yard playing.
