ice cream.

I love ice cream. I grew up where ice cream was a main course. There were always those huge buckets of ice cream in the freezer just waiting for you to scoop out a bowl full. My family is big on ice cream, and not so big on cakes, pies, etc.

When Brett and I were first married I dished him and I up a bowl of ice cream and as I handed him his bowl he said something to the effect of, " What is this? I can't eat this! I need like a 3rd of this amount." I was so surprised, how could you not eat all of that ice cream? I did not think that I scooped up an amount that garnered that reaction. Apparently not everyone thinks the way my family does. We now have nicknames for a bowl of ice cream.

The (Brett's last name) scoop

and

The (my maiden name) scoop

Let me tell you there is a HUGE difference between the two. We always ask each other which one they want, we usually stick to our own namesakes. My little issue, at least Brett thinks so, is that I HAVE to have a big spoon to eat my ice cream with. Otherwise you can't get enough ice cream on your spoon. He has a small spoon and his reason is that he just likes it. As you can tell this is a big deal in our house.

The reason that I started talking about this is that there is a NEW ice cream flavor that is out, that I just found and I am in heaven!!! It combines my two favorite ice cream flavors and eliminates the issues that I had with them. It is a perfect marriage.

I always hated that Mint Chocolate Chip had those big hard chunks of chocolate chips in it, I just wanted the Mint part. My all time favorite is Cookies & Cream, so when I saw this ice cream I bought 3. I continue to stock up on it, really in dread of when they stop making it. Please go out and get it, it is just so yummy. PLEASE eat it with a BIG spoon!

I like your size scoops but Brett's size spoon. Bryan teases me about how much ice cream I like but really why have just a little. I REALLY like Trader Joe's ice cream but I will have to try your mint cookie.

I LOVE ice cream. But I eat mine with a fork.....weird I know I got that from my Dad. The mint cookie sounds really yummy I think I must try it...Baskin Robbins has the best mint and chip the chips are shaved so you don't deal with the chunks...but it is expensive...

Okay, maybe we've discussed this before...Devon and I had the same experience when we first started dating. However, I scooped him up a small dish of ice cream and he couldn't believe I was giving him such a small portion. I, on the other hand, was appauled at the amount he actually eats. Even to this day, it kinda grosses me out. How can one person eat that much ice cream in one sitting? Sometimes he even goes back for seconds...seriously???!!!

Darcy, I adore you! Your blog is so fun, and I love the journal effect of it all. Gwennie and babies to come are going to have such an amazing record of your lives together! I am so thankful we are friends!

I have to agree with both you and Karin. I Love ice cream above any other type of dessert too. Your family sounds so much like my family! But, like Karin I have to have a small spoon. I don't know why but I do. John is the same as you and only has the big spoon and also makes fun of me. Anyway great entry! You have got me craving it now and the new flavor sounds fantastic! Those are my favorites too! I might have to go to the store later. Yum!
