My awful day.

National Blog Posting Month does not require you to post twice in one day, but I had such a crazy afternoon that I had to share it with you all.

It all started with me calling Abby to see if she wanted to swap watching the kids so the other could vote, but she had already voted with an absentee ballot. She offered to meet me at my polling place and have Gwenie wait in the car with her and Sawyer. I agreed and thanked her tons (Thanks Abby!) but I forgot one important thing: I didn't have my car!

Brett switched cars with me so that I could go and get him an oil change across the street, within walking distance. I then had to get the carseat and install it in his car, which by the way, is small and my electronic key does not work so I had to make sure I pressed the unlock button to get Gwenie out otherwise I had to walk around the car again to the drivers side to press the unlock button. Might not seem like a huge pain, but for those that have kids should understand, it was a pain.

I meet Abby and she watched Gwenie, who cried for me the whole time. Sorry Abby, I really hate this "I only want mommy" stage. I always get stressed out with voting and this time I was because of the major issues out there and being careful to vote the correct way. Hearing Gwenie cry from inside the polling place did not help, either. I knew she was in great hands with Abby, I just felt sorry for Abby that she had to deal with it.

Gwenie and I leave and drop off the car and walk back home, then Gwenie did not want to take a nap, which is not helping the teething process!!! I get a call from the oil change people and they tell me that the cars water pump was broken and would cost almost $600.00 to fix. WHAT?!?!? I tell them I will call them back. I frantically call the dealership and ask if the water pump is under warranty and they assure me it is. Gwenie and I walk across the street pick up the car and drive to the dealership.

The dealership takes FOREVER to get all the paperwork done and that is awful when you have a very active little girl. As we were waiting Gwenie walked by and touched a tire, but not just a tire it had nice heavy rims/wheels also. As she touched it and walked by, it FELL ON HER! Luckily I was right by her and got it off of her really fast, but IT FELL ON HER!!! I was all alone hysterically thinking that she was really injured, Gwenie is screaming and none of the employees offered to help us or ask if she was ok. I was close to tears. How did that happen?

They then tell me that they will need the car overnight and they will get me a rental car. We then wait almost 45 minutes for the rental car place to come and get us. By this time almost 2 hours had passed and I just wanted to crawl into bed and cry. Poor Gwenie she always has crazy things happen to her.

To make both of us feel better I am eating my new favorite ice cream from Target (we stopped to buy it on the way home)

and Gwenie is eating her favorite Gerbers chesse crunchies.

That ice cream sounds delicious. Too bad you had a bad day to counteract the goodness of ice cream.

Sorry to hear about your "bad" day; however to the rest of us, it was really funny, as I'm sure you'll find it in a couple of years. Just think - these are the times you'll remember. Besides you got to eat ice cream!

Noooooo! I was so proud of you stopping for Ice Cream for you and Gwenie... but then Gwenie gets ripped off and has to settle for Cheese Doodles? Seriously??? Who did the tire fall on? Poor little thing. A big old tire falls on her and she gets to watch mom eat ice cream! Bring her to my house and I will give her all the ice cream and sugar treats she wants!

I love you Darci, and I think you are a great mom.

What a crazy day you had. I can't believe a tire fell on her. On the brighter side at least the part was under warranty. You saved $600. I'm always skeptical when I take my car in for any repairs...especially when I get my oil changed. I finally found a place that I feel is very honest but whenever I took it anywhere else it seemed like I could never go in for just an oil change. One place was always telling me I needed new tires. After I had just bought some and they told me that I knew it was time to look for a new place. Glad your day is over. Ice Cream seems to heal any bad day.

Miserable! Poor Gwen. I can't believe the workers were so unresponsive. How is she today? Hope things are better for you both. You are so lucky that you can indulge in your ice cream and still stay so skinny. I indulge too but know I will pay for it on my theighs!
