Miss P

Saturday November 7th started out as any other day except that I had this feeling when I woke up that somehow something would happen. I had been in real labor since the day before at 3:30pm but was ignoring it because I just could not be in labor 3 1/2 weeks early!!!

I woke up and shaved my legs (I really did know that something was happening) and then we went to Target because I told Brett that we needed diapers and wipes and other things. Then we went and ate at Panda Express and on the way home I started to get CRAZY PAINFUL contractions that were 4 mintues apart. We were tempted not to get out of the car and drive straight to the hospital but we had Gweniveve with us and we didn't have a bag of my stuff. We came home and I laid on the couch crying because seriously the pain was bad and called my doctor and my mother in law so she could take Gwen. Then I noticed that my water broke too. Brett packed me a bag since I had not done that yet and my mother in law came and got Gwenie and we headed to the hospital. Brett was pretty sure we would not be admitted and didn't even take my bag into the hospital (this happened with Gwen) but I told him we would be since these contractions hurt so bad and I never felt them like this with Gwen.

We arrive at the hospital at 1:30p.m. and they check me and I am dilated at a 6, no wonder I was in so much pain!!!!

At 11:04p.m. Penelope Helen (Helen is my moms name) was born. She was 6 pds 5 oz, 18 1/2 inches long.

I had Brett hold her feet out so I could get a picture, sorry for the band aids but she got ALOT of blood taken in the hospital since they were checking her for jaundice and thought that she had a blood disorder (stupid nurse that is a whole other story).

Her hands are so tiny, especially next to Brett's.

Our first family photo and right after I gave birth, hence me looking terrible. I had been crying alot since the epidural didn't work to great. We only got a couple of minutes with Penelope before they took her away since she was a pre-term baby ( not yet 37 weeks) and was having breathing problems.

I am looking a little better here, plus you can see Penelope in this one.

With her eyes open and still a little messy. They waited a long time to give her a bath for some reason I can't remember why.

When Gwenie first saw her she said "Hi Baby Sister" and gave her a kiss. It was so cute to see.

Sisters

Us girls. Gwenie is pointing to her nose, she pointed out everything about her when she saw her.

Thanks for sharing your story. Each one is so unique and special, I enjoy hearing them. She would have been a very tall baby if she had gone full term. She's beautiful. Congratulations!!!
