The doorbell rang. I open the door. Crap it is a salesman.
He looks at me. I look at him.
He says, "Um, are your parents home?"
What? I say, "No. I live here."
"You look so young you can't own the house you must rent. Do you know your landlords phone number?"
"I don't rent, I own it."
"Oh, how long have you lived here?"
"3 years."
"Oh. I am here because I did your neighbors windows and wanted to do a walk through and give you a quote."
"No thanks. Not interested."
"Do you have central air?"
"I do, but whatever it is I am not interested. Thanks. Goodbye."
I close the door, look at Gwenie, "Is it the braces?"

Is it the braces?

That's fabulous, you look so young you look like a teenager!!! Quite a rude assumption that you couldn't own the house though!
I agree with Kami...I don't think it's such a bad thing. It just means you look young and beautiful. Quite rude for that guy to make assumptions. I would assume he doesn't get good sales. If someone did that to me I wouldn't want to hear or even find out what he was selling.
Classic. It must totally be the braces! Hey, at least you are mistaken for being younger--not older, right?
AWESOME. Just take it for what it is, a compliment.
i'm glad i'm not the only one that happens too.
I'd give anything to have someone mistake me for a cute young girl, instead of asking if my "caretakers" are at home. :)
What a dick?! Obviously he needs to brush up on his people skills! Not that it isn't fabulous that he thinks you're a teenager ;) quick go buy some wine and see if they card you! I feel sad every time I do now since almost no one cards me anymore.
Thanks Erin, but I don't drink. It was really weird though.
That is so funny...I get the same thing. But yes chalk it up to the braces!
Haahaa that is kinda funny!!!
